Family drives our business.
When I started working at Country Florist in 2015, I found a passion I didn’t know I had. I loved growing flowers in the garden and learning how textures, colors, and different styles could come together in a design. There was always something new to learn—and I wanted to keep learning.
The manager who first taught me became a wonderful mentor. She believed in my abilities, taught me everything from customer service to floral design, and encouraged me to keep going when following my passion felt difficult. When she moved on to another career, I stepped into management with so many ideas for the shop—and a growing dream of making it my own.
Getting there took three years of work, support from my family and the man who would become my husband, and finding a way through the uncertainty of COVID-19. In April 2021, I finally signed the papers. Country Florist was mine.
Family drives our business. It’s why we work hard every day, and it’s at the heart of what our customers come to us for. Flowers are something you send to someone who matters to you—your family, your chosen family, the people you celebrate with and the people you want to comfort.
That’s what I want Country Florist to be here in Owego: a shop you feel comfortable turning to when you have something to say through flowers. My team and I are grateful to be part of those moments.
